It's time for our big event for the year: The St. Louis English Country Dancers welcome you to our Playford Ball Weekend, which will be held April 26-28, and will feature the calling of Mary Kay Schladweiler from Minnesota. We'll begin with a dance on Friday, April 26th, from 7:30 - 9:30 pm; continue with morning (10:00 am - noon) and afternoon (1:30 - 3:30 pm) workshops on Saturday, April 27th, continue further with our 29th annual Playford Ball on Saturday, April 27th from 7:30 - 10:30 pm, and conclude with a potluck Brunch on Sunday, April 28th. The Ball is fancy dress (your definition), the other events are casual dress; all dances will be walked through and called. The Friday dance, Saturday workshops and Saturday Ball will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 6501 Wydown Blvd. (there's a map with directions here); pick up a map to the Sunday brunch at one of the dances or workshops. Music will be provided by the Original Speckled Band, and calling (as mentioned) by Mary Kay Schladweiler, from the Twin Cities. If you bring snacks to share at the break in the dances, we will warmly thank you, and a splendid time is guaranteed for all; in fact, several splendid times.
You can download a Playford Ball Weekend flyer here.

IS ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCING?
English country dancing typically involves lines of men facing lines of women; the dancers walk patterns with their partners and with other couples in the set. Our chief dance leader is Peter Wollenberg; all dances are taught from scratch each evening. You can attend with or without a partner.
Beginners are welcome at
all events! Each regular dance evening starts at 7:00 with
a beginners' workshop so that newcomers can learn the
fundamentals of English country dancing.
The St. Louis English
Country Dancers (Local 1651) are members of the Country
Dance and Song Society, CDSS.
